Police were alerted at 17.35 on Saturday that a person had been shot in the Björksätra area of Sandviken.
At the scene, police found a younger man with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to hospital, but the injury is not considered life-threatening.
The police are now conducting a variety of investigative measures at the scene, including witnessing. The crime classification is currently an attempted murder.
Police want to get in touch with people who have seen or heard something in the area that may be of interest.
