Our newspaper, Beijing, May 23 (Reporter Qiu Chenhui, China Youth Daily, China Youth Daily) Bao Weimin, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and director of the Science and Technology Commission of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, revealed in an interview with reporters today that the current series of weather in China Satellite has provided satellite data and products for users in hundreds of countries and regions around the world.

In 1977, China's first generation of polar-orbiting meteorological satellites was officially named Fengyun-1, and the era of Fengyun meteorological satellites began. So far, China has successfully launched 17 Fengyun meteorological satellites, and 7 satellites in orbit are in stable operation. Bao Weimin said that the Fengyun series of meteorological satellites play an important role in the field of meteorological observation and forecasting at home and abroad, and responding to climate change. Since 2005, Fengyun series of meteorological satellites have provided a total of 122 products, 19 countries have received Fengyun satellite data in real time through the China Meteorological Administration satellite broadcasting system, 29 countries have built Fengyun satellite data direct receiving stations, and 24 countries have registered as “Fengyun satellites "Users of international users' disaster prevention and emergency protection mechanism".

As a low-orbiting meteorological satellite to replace Fengyun-3 in the future, the Fengyun-5 satellite series includes comprehensive observation satellites, dedicated observation satellites, and emergency extreme weather monitoring constellation groups. It is expected that by 2035, the Fengyun-5 satellite series will fully replace and expand the currently in service Fengyun-3 satellite series.
