After much speculation, the date of the second round of municipal elections is now known. It will be June 28, 2020, the Prime Minister announced on Friday noon. In Loire-Atlantique, only 28 out of 207 municipalities are affected.

There will of course be the city of Nantes, where Johanna Rolland (PS) came fairly clearly in the lead on the evening of the first round, ahead of Laurence Garnier (LR) and Julie Laernoes (EELV), on March 15. There is also Saint-Nazaire, the second most populous city in the department, where the outgoing mayor David Samzun (PS but not invested by his party) is on favorable ballot.

There are still a lot of hot spots

In Saint-Herblain, the socialist mayor Bertrand Affilé is in a strong position for the second round. In Rezé, Gérard Allard (PS), outgoing mayor, is in a delicate position since he is largely outstripped by his former assistant Hervé Neau. In Orvault, the leader of the left, Jean-Sébastien Guitton, left Monique Maisonneuve and Sébastien Arrouët, the two candidates on the right, a hair's breadth. The right is also well placed to keep the town hall of Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire within the framework of a triangular. Finally, in Bouguenais, it is a quadrangular that promises to be.

In Ancenis and Clisson, we move towards an indecisive triangular in the second round. In Guérande, four lists are qualified and the election remains open. In Saint-Brévin-les-Pins, the situation is even more confused with no less than five lists still in the running.

The voters of Couëron, Thouaré-sur-Loire, Indre, Le Pellerin, Le Loroux-Bottereau, Blain, Trignac, Montoir-de-Bretagne, Donges, Le Pouliguen, Le Croisic, Piriac-sur-mer will also have to return to the polls. Machecoul, Villeuneuve-en-Retz or Prinquiau.

The municipalities whose municipal election was played in the first round will have a new municipal council from this Saturday.
