(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Visiting the nucleic acid detection sampling area of the hospital: "Demining Soldiers" in the epidemic prevention and control battle

China News Service, Changchun, May 22 (Sun Boyan) On the 22nd, the staff in the nucleic acid detection sampling area of the First Hospital of Jilin University was as busy as usual. As the sampling area for the new coronary pneumonia nucleic acid spot detection in Jilin Province, the staff here has to complete more than 1,000 samples every day, which provides an important basis for the diagnosis and treatment of patients and medical isolation observation.

On the same day, the reporter came to this single independent "nucleic acid detection sampling area" built in just over ten days and saw that the area included "three areas and two channels" and eight independent sampling rooms. Nucleic acid detection sampling nursing team is composed of 95 nursing staff, 64 of whom have supported Wuhan or worked in the new coronary intensive care unit of the hospital.

"Three districts and two passages refer to clean areas, contaminated areas and semi-contaminated areas, medical personnel passages and patient passages set up in accordance with the requirements of the Infection Ward Construction Guidelines." Cong Yue, deputy director of the nursing department of the First Hospital of Jilin University, introduced.

According to her, the eight independent sampling rooms are also designed so that the sampled people do not cross each other and ensure their safety.

The reporter learned that in order to avoid close contact between the operator and the sampled person and increase the probability of infection, the sampling area uses a transparent partition as a physical barrier, and will be disinfected in time after each sampling. Inside the sampling area, two-way glass windows are provided for natural ventilation. At the same time, an air disinfection machine and ultraviolet air purification equipment are also equipped to further enhance the disinfection effect of the air and the environment.

The fight against the epidemic has entered a critical stage, and the huge workload every day makes the nursing staff "unable to eat". Cong Yue said that everyone started working on time at 8 o'clock every day, divided into 2 groups, each group of 4 to 7 people, rotate once every 4 hours. "The 4-hour collection is about 500 to 600 person-times, and each person's collection is about 100 person-times. Due to the inconvenience of putting on and taking off protective clothing, everyone does not drink water or go to the bathroom during work."

Cong Yue told reporters that the most important item after the nurses collected the sample was to save the swab and send it to the laboratory. "After collection, put the swab into a special virus preservation solution, tighten the tube cover and seal it in three layers, put it in the refrigerator of our special specimen channel, and wait for the teacher of the laboratory to take it."

Up to now, the First Hospital of Jilin University has collected more than 9000 nucleic acid test specimens. Cong Yue said that the nucleic acid detection and sampling nursing team will be able to act as a "demining soldier" and win this epidemic prevention and control battle. (Finish)
