The tram will again cross the Rhine. Stopped since March 16, the link between Strasbourg and the German border town of Kehl will be re-established. The Compagnie des transports strasbourgeois (CTS) announced a "test" resumption from May 26 at 8 am.

For the moment, only the station station, "Kehl Bahnhof", will be served. And only people authorized to cross the border for professional, medical or educational reasons will be authorized on board. Clearly, not those who wish to go shopping or tourism across the Rhine.

"Systematic checks will be carried out by the German police within each train upon their arrival at the Kehl Bahnhof station," warns the CTS, which does not refrain from stopping the connection. "If this test is conclusive thanks to responsible and compliant use of the line by authorized customers, the service can be restored over time", writes the company again.

The full opening of the German border is scheduled for June 15.
