The fire outside Vänersborg started at two o'clock on Thursday afternoon, in an inaccessible forest area outside Öxnered in the northwest part of the city.
- It was a problem for us to get to, but we called in helicopters from MSB, says Peter Gustafsson, internal commander at the rescue service.
About ten acres were burned down.
- We have received calls all night from people who feel the smell of smoke in Vänersborg and Trollhättan.
Another forest fireOn Thursday evening, a new forest fire started north of Torp outside Uddevalla.
- It was at a height where it burned quite heavily, says Peter Gustafsson.
About ten firefighters were present to fight the fire, and the two helicopters were directed from Vänersborg to Uddevalla.
- We have had people left during the night for extinguishing. It's not over yet.
This fire also affected an area of about ten hectares.
"Even drier"Peter Gustafsson is worried that the fires will continue during Friday.
- Today it is even drier. Before it rains this afternoon, there is an increased risk of new fires. It's dry in the ground, he says.
