Romane, 20, a student at the Institut Supérieur d'Optique in Lyon, died of her injuries on Tuesday. Stabbed in the groin on the night of Saturday to Sunday by her neighbor above, the young Lyonnaise of 20 years did not survive.
Saturday evening, she collapsed at the entrance to her apartment and lost a lot of blood. A last-ditch operation was attempted on Monday, according to Le Progrès .
Suspect placed in pre-trial detention
The drama had occurred in the very peaceful rue Saint-Maximin in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon. Benjamin C. had gone, armed with a knife, to the floor below in order to complain once again about the noises of his neighbor. He had been complaining about noise pollution for several weeks, according to the trustee to whom he had written many times.
It is not known whether the 38-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. After his gesture, he left the premises and returned to his home, where he was arrested shortly after the fact. Charged for attempted murder - a charge which should therefore be reclassified -, he was placed in pre-trial detention on Monday evening. It was therefore from his cell that he learned the terrible news.
