Inspired by France, library staff have been trained to help a violent woman get in touch with professional help if she states the code "Mask 19" - the code used both nationally and internationally.

- It is important that we find all opportunities we can to lower the threshold to seek and get help, says Sofie Isaksson, unit manager for the individual and family operations, at Piteå municipality.

Corona pandemic affects relationships

There have been many alarms that the corona academy and the isolation in the home increase the risk of violence in close realities, and it is a background that the librarians are now also dealing with the problem. But the idea is that library staff should continue to help women at risk even when the corona pandemic has subsided. In a press release, Library Manager Johan Söderberg says:

- Since violence is not a corona-specific problem, we think that this is something that we will continue to work with later on as well. Exactly what remains to be seen.
