He stated this at an online meeting of the UN Security Council on the Arria formula regarding the situation in Crimea

“This topic is extremely rare in the world media. But there is something to talk about. How in the 21st century can 2.5 million people turn off water and electricity? For six years, no water has been flowing into Crimea through the North Crimean Canal, ”RIA Novosti quotes him.

According to him, "at the UN site, you need to find resources to solve this problem."

In January, the head of the Crimean government, Yuri Gotsanyuk, said that no negotiations were underway between the Russian and Ukrainian sides over the resumption of the supply of Dnieper water through the North Crimean Canal.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal said that the supply of water to the Crimea is a “matter of humanitarian responsibility” to the inhabitants of the peninsula.

He later explained his words by saying that Kiev “does not forget about the Ukrainians who live” in Crimea.
