With the long weekend of the ascent that begins this Thursday, May 21, many mayors fear a massive influx on their territories. In times of gradual deconfinement, they are not calm about compliance with health rules, especially on the beaches of the French coast. Some therefore decided to close them even though they had reopened ten days ago.

Damgan in Brittany is renowned for its peninsula and its beautiful stretches of sand. This weekend, all beaches will be prohibited from entering. The largest of them had been open in dynamic mode, for a week.

But today, the mayor, Jean-Marie Labesse, has come back against the beach attendants who have not respected the rules and the distancing measures: “  We make sure that we gradually relax, that things go well , and there, we had the impression that in two days, we had forgotten everything. The media have explained enough what a dynamic beach is: you can walk, run, go in the water, but you are not allowed to put your towel, umbrella, picnic. There are rules. The attitudes of these people were not acceptable. It saddens me with this kind of situation. I have no other solution to protect the population  .

Some beaches remain accessible

100 km further south, in Pornic, the mayor Jean-Michel Brard, decided to trust him and leave the 12 small beaches of his town open: “  I think that the entire French coast has the same concerns. It's more complicated. But if people are reasonable, there is no reason not to do it. You just have to respect the dynamic range rule, it's quite possible. What is unfortunate is that some people don't follow the rules, that's all  . ”

Jean-Michel Brard warns: if the weekend goes wrong, the barriers will be put down at the beach entrance on Monday.
