May 21, 2020 The number of people worldwide infected with coronavirus has reached five million, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. The BBC reports it. The number of deaths caused by the virus is currently 328,172.


 Two new infections in
China China only recorded two new cases of coronavirus infection, compared to five on the previous day. One of the two infections is caused by local transmission in Shanghai, while the second comes from abroad. There are also 31 asymptomatic. The total number of infections is 82,967. The death toll remains unchanged at 4,634.



In Korea, schools closed after reopening
Dozens of schools in the city of Incheon, west of Seoul in South Korea, were closed again after two new cases of infection emerged on the first day of the return from the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The schools directly connected to the two infected students had already canceled classroom lessons, but another 66 schools in the city of Incheon were opened and closed after 2 hours as a precautionary measure until the completion of the contact tracking. The two students had been in some karaoke rooms frequented by their other companions who were positive. These cases are believed to be related to the recent outbreak in the Itaewon nightclub. So far, a total of 196 related cases have been reported.



In Russia almost three thousand deaths

In Russia 8,764 cases of contagion from COVID-19 have been recorded in the last 24 hours (yesterday 9,263) for a total that exceeds 300,000 infections, more precisely 308,705, an increase of 2.9%. 2,699 cases and remains the area most affected by the epidemic. The death toll is also on the rise: in the last 24 hours 135 deaths have been recorded (115 yesterday), for a total of 2,972.

India: other 5,609 cases of contagion and 132 deaths

India has confirmed that it has 5,609 other cases of contagion from coronaviruses, for a total of 112,359. According to data from the Ministry of Health, deaths increased by 132 and the overall budget amounted to 3,435.The state of Maharashtra is the most affected with 39,297 cases.
