African heads accused the rich countries of failing the brown continent in the time of Corona, as these countries' pledges regarding financial support and debt relief are far less than meeting the needs of the continent during its pandemic control. As Europe prepares to open the border, Brazil has recorded a record casualty toll.

The presidents of Kenya, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Senegal, and Niger stated that developed economies had allocated trillions of dollars for health initiatives and economic stimulus packages at home, but they said they could not afford such measures in their countries.

"We are not in a position to protect companies and maintain jobs ... We are again being wronged by the Covid-19 pandemic," Senegalese President Macky Sall said during a virtual round table organized by the New York Forum Research Institute.

Africa has asked rich countries to give them a stimulus package worth $ 100 billion, to forgive them from debt and to suspend private debt service.

"More needs to be done," said Ivory Coast President El Hassan Ouattara - a former senior IMF official. "The positions of the industrialized countries have been selfish for decades," he added.

The Group of Twenty, which includes rich economies, had supported last month a call by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to suspend bilateral debt service for the world's poorest countries, knowing that not all African countries are eligible for the initiative.

Brazil
The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday evening that the new Corona virus, in 24 hours, had claimed the lives of 1,179 people, in a record daily toll.

The ministry said that Brazil, with a population of 210 million, has recorded 272,000 laboratory-confirmed infections, including nearly 18,000 deaths.

This is the first time that the death toll from "Covid-19" daily death in Brazil has crossed the 1,000 mark.

And if this upward trend in mortality continues in the next few days, Brazil - the country most affected by Latin America by the virus - will see a phase in which the outbreak of the pandemic accelerates to the peak expected to be reached, according to experts in early June.

On Monday, Brazil became the third country in the world in terms of the number of new infections with the Corona virus, after it exceeded within 72 hours only France, Italy and Spain in the numbers of infected people, and it jumped from sixth to third in the world in terms of the extent of the epidemic among its population.

Europe
In a remarkable development at the level of the European continent, it was announced yesterday that five countries in Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic) may open the boundaries between them in the middle of next month, according to their representatives at the conclusion of two conferences via the Internet.

Germany has a relatively low number of deaths linked to the "Covid-19" epidemic, while the other four countries in this group are among the best in the European Union to stop its spread.

Austria and Germany have announced that they will reopen their borders on June 15.

On the other hand, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday that Canada and the United States have agreed to keep their common borders closed to "unnecessary" movement until next June 21, due to the "Covid-19" epidemic.

Figures
The new Corona virus has killed at least 320,255 people worldwide since its appearance in China last December, according to a census prepared by the French Press Agency, according to official sources.

Almost 4.86 million infections have been officially recorded in 196 countries and regions since the outbreak began. The United States also recorded 1539 deaths from the new Corona virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total deaths caused by the virus in this country to about 92 thousand, according to a statistic of Johns Hopkins University on Tuesday evening.
