20 May 2020Today in the Senate, voting on no-confidence motions is expected against the Minister of Justice, Alfonso Bonafede. Matteo Renzi does not dissolve the reservation on the behavior of his senators despite a meeting at Palazzo Chigi by Maria Elena Boschi with Giuseppe Conte. After the meeting, the Renzians reiterate that they are still waiting for a "signal" on the issues of justice: "let's wait to listen to Bonafede and then Renzi speaks".

M5s makes a square: "the motion will be largely rejected", says Minister M5S Federico D'incà '. And Luigi Di Maio goes so far as to speak of a "compact majority". The M5s can only defend its head of government delegation, but the Pd also does it, but asks Bonafede for a change of pace. Vito Crimi, Graziano Delrio or Francesco Boccia say that if mistrust passes, it will be a crisis of government and consequent return to vote. The small numbers of the majority make an accident possible. The latest counts accredit between 150 and 151 votes for the majority without Iv and 144 for the motion presented by Emma Bonino for + Europa con Action and Fi. Among the hypotheses there is also the exit from the classroom of the Renzians.

In the evening Andrea Marcucci brings together the Pd senators and in effect discontent emerges both on Bonafede and the owner of the school Lucia Azzolina. "We don't like Bonafede's method," says Marcucci. But from here to vote the distrust passes. "There are no reasons neither of merit nor of method, but once this phase is over - say by the Democratic Party - reforms of criminal, civil, CSM and penitentiary justice are needed".

Negotiations are ongoing. According to Renzian sources there are "steps forward" on the shock plan for infrastructure and on the family act. On justice, the Prime Minister could grant Italia Viva the "political recognition" requested with a possible government reshuffle.
