Participants in the Virtual Awareness Council, organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, with the participation of the Minister of Infrastructure Development Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al-Nuaimi, under the title "Building and Housing Safety", confirmed that the new Corona virus (Covid-19) is not transmitted through air conditioning systems For housing and workplaces.
But they stressed the need to continue to clean air conditioners and their filters periodically for more reassurance during the period of the spread of the virus.
Al-Naimi said at the beginning of the session, which was moderated by the media Aisha Al-Zaabi, that the next stage will witness a major reflection of the Corona virus on the design of buildings, stressing that after the pandemic of the virus will differ from what preceded it.
He explained that the future design will be based on specifications that guarantee facing potential challenges, so that the dwellings constitute a fortified defense line to face such emergency conditions, and are more able to guarantee a healthy, safe and stable life for their residents.
He pointed out that the UAE government acted proactively during the current crisis, to ensure that its negative impact in various sectors is minimized, before the virus is considered a global pandemic, adding that the government has provided a lot of support to various sectors, and moved quickly to besiege and eliminate the virus.
Al-Naimi stressed the need to refute the rumors associated with the Corona virus, because of its negative impact on society, pointing to the need to extract information from the specialists.
For his part, the family medicine specialist, Dr. Adel Saeed Al-Sajwani confirmed that the new corona virus is transmitted by droplets or touching contaminated surfaces, and there is no global study that talks about its transmission through the air, which refutes the news circulating about its transmission through air-conditioning and refrigeration.
He said: "To date, no infection with the virus has been recorded as a result of its transmission through the air," noting that "the development of the virus is linked to its strength and weakness, and not to the way it is transmitted."
Al-Sajwani stressed the need to draw news from its official sources, and not to pay attention to false news and rumors. He also stressed the need to adhere to the preventive and precautionary measures taken by the state, and to ensure social separation at this stage.
He stated that what is being done from studies and research confirms that there are promising opportunities to reach a vaccine for the emerging corona virus, calling on community members to be optimistic and adhere to preventive measures until the virus is eliminated.
For his part, a member of the board of directors of the American Society for Refrigeration and International Heating, Dr. Ahmed Aladdin, confirmed the formation of a committee composed of experts and specialists from different countries of the world, conducted several specialized studies, which proved that the emerging corona virus is not transmitted through the air, but rather through Spray, indicating that it cannot be transmitted through air conditioning and refrigeration equipment
He continued that future designs for air conditioning and refrigeration will take into account the current situation, and will focus on the process of expelling the air used and replacing it with a more pure one, specifically in residential buildings.
Aladdin added that the components and designs of air conditioning and refrigeration devices contribute to preventing the transfer of flying mist in the air through it, but he stressed the need to take all precautions, for more reassurance, through the periodic maintenance of air conditioners and refrigeration devices, the replacement of filters, and attention to a good ventilation rate by opening the windows For specific periods, or by using air intake devices.
In turn, he called the regional product manager at the "York Johnson Control", Abdul Rahman Khalil, to take precautionary and preventive measures, for air conditioning and refrigeration devices, which are periodic maintenance, constantly changing filters, and washing them to maintain their efficiency under emergency conditions, stressing that good ventilation The building, with temperature control between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius, and humidity between 40 and 60, have a role in preventing the transmission of viruses and diseases, pointing out that companies specializing in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment work according to an Emirati specification system, which has proven its efficiency throughout the past years.
