"Everyone wants it," says Susan Nilsson, nurse and vaccinator at a reception in Norrköping.

Vaccination helps against a serious form of pneumonia caused by bacteria, but not against coronavirus.

Twice as many vaccinations

We have talked to four major vaccination chains, which have clinics around the country.

"At least twice as much vaccine has been used for bacterial pneumonia, compared with the corresponding time last year," says Harald Zetterquist, a doctor at the Vaccine Clinic.

According to the vaccination reception at the Visby laser, vaccinations remain at the same level as last spring.

- Now that demand was greatest at the end of March and the beginning of April, the vaccine was temporarily residual and demand is usually higher during the autumn, says Harald Zetterquist.

But the vaccination does not help against coronavirus

- We have been carefully informed that it does not provide protection against all types of pneumonia and in particular not against Covid virus. On the other hand, it provides good protection for future secondary infections after viruses and especially against pneumococcal pneumonia, says Harald Zetterquist.

Why such a rush?

“Many people are becoming more aware of it now and feel worried if they become impaired in their immune system,” says Susan Nilsson.

The vaccination companies we talk to are Svea Vaccin, the Fasting Bus / Vaccination directly, Vaccination Clinic and Doctor 24.
