Arial, Minister of Land Management, Cooperation and Poverty Reduction of Nigeria released a new map on behalf of the government that day. This new map will be used for government seals, school textbooks, and other administrative tasks.
From this new map, Nepal has included the three regions of Kalapani, Lipu Lekh and Limpiyadhura in the west. These three areas have been the focus of territorial disputes between Nepal and India in recent times.
In November 2019, the Indian Ministry of the Interior released a map that included Nepal, Karapani and others. This picture caused protests from the Nigerian government and people from all walks of life. At that time, Nepali Prime Minister Oli convened a meeting of leaders of various parties and demanded that the territorial dispute be resolved through diplomatic channels.
On May 8, 2020, Indian Defense Minister Rajinat Singh announced on his personal social media that India has repaired an 80-kilometer riplek highway. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal subsequently issued a statement stating that this road passes through the Liplek region belonging to Nepal. As a result, territorial disputes between the two countries have once again heated up, and the central government of Nepal and several major parties have issued statements calling for the proper settlement of disputes through diplomatic channels.
On the afternoon of May 13, the Nepalese government set up a border post of the Armed Police Force in the Bias area of Darchula in western Nepal to enhance its influence and surveillance in the area. Nepal currently has 25 armed police officers and soldiers at the post.
