Anger does not subside. The death of Sabri, 18, who died Sunday morning after hitting a concrete electric pole with his motorcycle, ignited his ZUP district, in Argenteuil, in the Paris suburbs. A BAC (Anti-Crime Brigade) car was near the scene of the accident. In an environment where relations between the police and neighborhoods are often strained, the suspicion of a police blunder soon emerged in people's minds.

For the past two nights, the neighborhood where Sabri was originally from has been on edge. After a first night of violence on Sunday evening, tensions resumed on Monday evening around 11 p.m. Three cars were set on fire and around 20 trash and litter fires were identified. In total, six people were arrested overnight, according to a police source.

"Three police officers were injured by projectile jets", including fireworks, added this source to AFP. The police used tear gas.

Prosecutor says Sabri was not prosecuted by police

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the accident which took place in a suburban district of the city when the driver, without helmet, struck a concrete electric pole located on a sidewalk.

According to initial findings, he was not chased by the BAC car, the Pontoise prosecution said on Monday. He specifies that "the first conclusions" of the expertise in accidentology also went in the direction of a "lack of impact between the police vehicle and the motorcycle".

Lawyers for Sabri's family, 18, said in a statement that a complaint will be made "in the next few days so that the circumstances of Sabri's death are clarified." A long legal battle is looming.
