The criticism of Donald Trump has grown as the corona pandemic continues. Nearly one and a half million people have been found infected in the United States so far and more than 89,000 have died, according to figures from the American Johns Hopkins University.

- The White House is hard pressed by this situation. The entire US economy has collapsed. In February it looked radiant with record low unemployment, but now the figures point to 20-25 percent unemployment this summer. That means Donald Trump is trying to talk about other things, says Stefan Åsberg in SVT's Morning Study.

The corona crisis affects the electoral movement

In a speech, Barack Obama criticized the current administration, which made Donald Trump, to say the least, upset.

"It was a tough attack on the president without actually mentioning Donald Trump by name, but he points out that the United States lacks a responsible leadership during this corona crisis," says Stefan Åsberg.

In his tweets, Donald Trump has responded by calling Obama an incompetent president, calling his administration the most corrupt in US history. He also claims there will be details about a political scandal, worse than Watergate, involving the former president.

- This whole discussion about Obamagate, as Trump calls it, is pretty diffuse. Trump got a question about this earlier this week and replied: you know it all. But everyone does not, and there are not many details missing, says Stefan Åsberg.

#Obamagate

It was last weekend that Donald Trump introduced the hashtag Obamagate. According to him, the Obama administration and former FBI chief James Comey have tried to dirty him and ruin his chances of becoming president by raising suspicions of conspiracy with the Russian government.

- Most people agree that what we now know is not a scandal. But everything is based on Donald Trump claiming that more, very serious, tasks will come and then this story can be evaluated in a completely different way, says Stefan Åsberg.
