The Uniqlo store, built on the site of the old Square Fleuriot, in Nantes. - F.Brenon / 20Minutes

There will be no drum performance, as originally planned. With a two-month delay linked to the coronavirus epidemic, the Uniqlo store in Nantes will finally open its doors on Wednesday morning, announced the association of merchants Plein Center. The shop, which offers an area of 960 m2 spread over three floors, will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The brand indicates that "all health precautions will be carefully observed to ensure the safety and health of everyone".

If traders welcome the arrival of a "locomotive" likely to "boost attendance at the center", many fans of the Japanese brand were also impatiently awaiting the opening of the first store in Pays-de-la-Loire. Nevertheless, the arrival of Uniqlo has aroused many criticisms, whether about the architecture of the building or around the archaeological remains discovered during the construction.

On Wednesday, customers should also discover the glass floor, which had been chosen to highlight elements of the city's medieval past.
