Last week, state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell at one of the public health authorities' press meetings expressed concern that so many elderly people were sitting in isolation unnecessarily. He said it was still good for people over 70 to move outdoors - from a distance, and to meet their grandchildren in the garden. And over the weekend, he told DN that easier restrictions for people over 70 could be up and running this week.

Earlier, the Director General of the Authority Johan Carlson has said that the recommendations are reviewed when he visited Agenda.

Former state epidemiologist Johan Giesecke believes that the eased recommendations may come this week.

- I'm pretty sure. Healthy 70-year-olds and a little older should not have to sit confined as they have done so far, he says in the Morning Studio.

Meet grandchildren

He believes that the facilitated recommendations will mean that people around the age of 70 will be able to meet their grandchildren, even indoors - provided everyone is healthy when you do.

- This is an age group that has a fairly small proportion who become seriously ill, says Johan Giesecke.

"Big risk"

The spread of infection should increase sharply if the restrictions ease for the elderly in Sweden do not believe the former state epidemiologist.

- It is clear that with more people out there, the risk of infection spreads. But the 70 to 80 age group is usually not out in a crowded context in the same way as younger people, he says.

At the same time, Johan Giesecke points out another widely debated phenomenon - immunity.

- There is a discussion about this, but there is some immunity, it is clear, he says.

He also emphasizes that the corona virus is at the same time something that we will live with for a long time.

- A big risk is if we relieve too much of the restrictions.
