She worries that fewer people are turning to the municipality for help. Since the upper secondary schools closed, almost the entire influx of young people has not been.

- When it comes to honor-related violence and young people, we usually get in touch with them through the school. But now that the school is closed, the teachers do not have the same opportunities to have contact with the young people. I have no figures on it, but since the schools closed, we have hardly come into contact with anyone, she says.

The risk of violence increases

She points out that the reasons why fewer seek help in coronation times can be many.

- It can partly be due to fear of being infected by corona. But it can also be because you do not feel it is the right place to make a break in the middle of a pandemic, says Margot Olsson.

When people spend more time in the home, the risk of domestic violence also increases.

- When you can't spend so much time with others and you spend more time at home, the tension in the family increases. We also see that in other countries, the violence is increasing within families, says Margot Olsson.

Targeted campaigns

The City of Malmö is now making several targeted efforts to reach more young people who need help.

- Among other things, a campaign on social media. We got almost 4,000 unique visitors to our website after it, which is a lot, says Margot Olsson.
