During a press conference on Monday night, US President Donald Trump said he was eating malaria medicine.

"I take one pill a day, what do I have to lose," he says.

"I think it's good"

He has been taking hydroxychloroquine for a week and a half, even though his doctors have not recommended it.

- I started taking it because I think it's good and because I've heard good stories about it, he says.

The Swedish Medicines Agency is skeptical

He says he is tested for corona every other day, but that all tests showed negative. According to the Swedish Medicines Agency, chlorokine and hydroxychloroquine should not be used, unless a doctor has recommended it. The Swedish Medicines Agency also writes:

"Currently available data do not allow robust conclusions about clinical efficacy and safety of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of patients with covid-19."
