In June, the Public Health Agency will return with recommendations for the summer as a whole. But already today they chose to report that it will be okay for children and young people to travel to camp.

- There are many questions about the summer for the children. We believe that they should continue as much as possible with their normal activities. On the one hand, they need it for the sake of their health and in addition there is little evidence that they are they are important in this spread of infection, says Anders Tegnell at the daily press conference.

Distance even at camp

A condition for going to camps is that they are located locally. The recommendation is still to avoid unnecessary travel and not to go further than the corresponding 1-2 hours by car.

- It should be kept in mind that the children are not too close together, to maintain good hygiene and children who are ill should stay at home or go home if they fall ill during the camp stay.

Camp organizers are also urged to prioritize training and outdoor activities, and to increase the distance for sleeping and dining in dining and other spaces if possible.

Gentle decline

Over the past 24 hours, 19 new deaths and 234 new confirmed cases have been reported. The number of people receiving or receiving intensive care is 1,853.

As it is the first day after the weekend, there is a backlog and the figure for the number of deceased is expected to rise in the next two days. The average per week is stable at 70 deaths per day. In several regions, there is now a decline in the number of people seriously ill with covid-19.

- We have a cautious positive trend that we must keep in mind, says Anders Tegnell.
