May 18, 2020Femminicide, this morning, shortly after 8, in Niscemi, an agricultural town of 26 thousand inhabitants 80 km from Caltanissetta. The victim is a 66-year-old woman. Her husband, 67, retired, a former street vendor who killed him with a letter opener in the throat, immediately appeared in the local Carabinieri barracks. It happened inside the couple's house. Neighbors asked for 118 operators to intervene. The man was in difficult psychological condition and had undergone mandatory health care last week."I killed my wife, I am here to constitute myself", with these words the old man showed up at the Niscemi police station immediately after killing his wife. The man showed no emotion and appeared calm.
The military immediately went to the home of the two spouses where they found the woman's corpse in a lake of blood. The man is currently in custody in the Carabinieri barracks, available to the deputy prosecutor of Gela.
