The President of the Presidential Council of the Government of the Libyan National Accord, Fayez al-Sarraj, and the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, discussed the executive steps of the memoranda of understanding signed by the two countries last November, regarding security and military cooperation, and defining areas of maritime jurisdiction in the Mediterranean.

The two parties also spoke - during a telephone conversation - about developments in Libya, the repercussions of the attack of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter's forces on Tripoli, and a number of common issues between the two sides.

President Erdogan invited Al-Sarraj to visit Turkey, where Al-Sarraj accepted the invitation, to set her date at a later time, according to the announcement of Al-Sarraj’s media office.

The Al-Wefaq government had defended yesterday through the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Saleh Al-Namroush, its alliance with Turkey, stressing that it is taking place in an atmosphere of transparency and that it is a response commensurate with the support of countries such as the UAE, Egypt and Russia for Haftar's forces.

In the field, the spokesman for the forces of the National Accord Government, Colonel Mohamed Kanounou, announced that the air force of his government destroyed at dawn today a Russian air defense system, the third of its kind in two days.

He added - in a statement - that the air force launched strikes south of the seventy airport on the Al-Rawagha road, during which a Russian air defense system of Pantzer and an electronic jamming system were on its way to support the militia of Haftar.

Qanunu also announced the destruction of mechanisms and ammunition and the neutralization of seven members of Haftar's forces in five air strikes on Al-Wattia air base in the far west of Libya.

The "Anger Volcano Operation" of the National Accord government also published pictures of the wreckage of a Chinese-made "Long Wing" drone, in which it said the UAE had supported Haftar's forces.

Al-Wefaq forces targeted the plane in the sky between the cities of Zuwara and Al-Jameel in western Libya.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health condemned the Al-Wefaq government, killing seven civilians and wounding 20 in a bombardment by Haftar forces on a residence for the displaced in the Ain Zara area, south of Tripoli, on Sunday.

The ministry added in a statement that the systematic and repeated attacks on residential neighborhoods in Tripoli have caused the loss of innocent lives, the displacement of citizens, the destruction of their homes and increasing their suffering.

The Ministry held full responsibility for all these crimes for groups outside the law, violations of human rights and war crimes in accordance with domestic and international law, according to the expression of the statement.

It is noteworthy that, since April 4, 2019, Haftar's forces have launched a military campaign to control the capital, Tripoli, where the headquarters of the internationally recognized Al-Wefaq government is located.
