The spokesman of the National Health and Health Commission and the deputy director of the Propaganda Department Mi Feng informed the epidemic situation that on May 16, the number of asymptomatic infections still under medical observation across the country fell for 15 consecutive days, and all existing cases in Heilongjiang Province were cured. In the past 3 days, there were 9 newly confirmed cases in the country, all from close contacts who have been isolated and observed.
Mi Feng said that from 0:00 to 24:00 on May 16, the provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported: 5 newly diagnosed cases, including 2 imported cases overseas, one each in Tianjin and Guangdong; There are 3 local cases in Jilin; there are no new deaths; 2 new suspected cases are all imported cases, one each in Inner Mongolia and Shanghai. On the same day, 8 newly discharged cases were cured, 633 close contacts were released from medical observation, and 1 severe case was reduced.
There are 44 confirmed cases imported from abroad, including 3 severe cases and 4 suspected cases. A total of 1700 cases were diagnosed, and a total of 1656 cases of discharge were cured, with no deaths.
As of 24:00 on May 16, according to the reports of the provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps: there are 86 confirmed cases, including 10 severe cases; 78227 cases were discharged and 4634 cases were dead; cumulative reports 82947 confirmed cases; 4 suspected cases. A total of 739,545 close contacts were tracked, and 4,724 close contacts were still under medical observation.
Added 12 cases of asymptomatic infections, including 1 imported from abroad; no conversion to confirmed cases on that day; 58 cases were released from medical observation on that day, including 1 imported from overseas; 515 cases of asymptomatic infections were still under medical observation, including overseas imports 30 cases.
A total of 1537 confirmed cases were reported from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Among them, there were 1052 cases in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, 45 cases in Macau Special Administrative Region and 440 cases in Taiwan.
