New York, USA, suffered from blood supply shortages due to a sharp drop in blood donation in the aftermath of Corona19.

An official at the New York Blood Center reported that stockpiles of blood banks that supply blood to public hospitals in the city and to more than 200 private hospitals in New York and New Jersey are only a day to two days old, according to dpa.

More than 1,000 blood donation campaigns sponsored by the New York Blood Center have been canceled since the blockade was issued in March.

Blood volume collected through blood donation campaigns in schools or regions typically amounts to 75% of the total blood volume collected by a blood center per month.

Last month, the blood donation in the jurisdiction was 14,000, less than half of the usual 30,000.

In New York City, where the situation was worst, it plummeted from 9,500 to about 2,000.

Blood supply, which averaged 2,000 pints per day, also fell to 3,000 to 3,500 pints a week from March.
