In Malo-les-Bains, a seaside resort near Dunkirk, the beach is once again accessible to walkers after the containment is lifted. Europe 1 went to meet walkers happy to be able to dip their feet again in the water and cautious in the face of the threat of the Covid-19.

REPORTAGE

On the beach of Malo-les-Bains, in the North, walkers can once again stroll on the beach after eight weeks of confinement. If they are relieved to be able to dip their feet again in the water, they still claim to respect the security measures in front of the Covid-19, still in circulation on the territory.

Small groups walk on the dike, spaced several meters apart, following a direction of traffic. Even if it has just reopened, the beach is far from crowded. Children, parents and grandparents are particularly present. Eugène, bucket full of sand in his hands, displays a big smile. He plays with his granddaughter Victoria.

The beach, a "large garden"

"It is magnificent. In Malo-les-Bains, this is our large garden. We are at the beach with grandpa huh?" He asked his granddaughter, before continuing. "It was missing. We remained confined but here I will be able to run with the little girl, it's wonderful."

A little further, Léa and her friends indulge in paddle. "It feels too good. It is a bit cold. But we have been waiting for this for a long time. We are happy," she rejoices. "The sea is not top but we were so impatient to go there that we went anyway."

Take precautions

On the beach, walkers relax and have fun but also remain vigilant. Karine, mask on the nose, hopes not to see a larger gathering this afternoon. "I know that young people are a little innocent but the virus is still there so we have to be careful after all. No one is safe," she warns.
