The new coronavirus test results are researched in units of families, involving 11,000 people in 5,000 families. Respondents were asked to conduct swab tests in the two weeks ending May 10. According to the research results of the survey, about 148,000 people in the UK may be infected, accounting for 0.27% of the total population.

The survey does not include inpatients or people living in nursing homes, because these people may have a higher prevalence of the virus. The results of the survey showed that 33 people from 30 families were positive. Medical workers in these families were several times more likely to be infected with the virus than other industries.
The survey aims to help government officials calculate the number of new coronavirus reproduction (R) or infection rate, and the feasibility of tracking contacts of infected persons. Subsequently, this study will also conduct a survey of 25,000 British households.
