The minister explained that until recently, the Czech side confirmed that the monument to Konev was in the register of the Czech Defense Ministry.

“And suddenly, when it was demolished, they bashfully tell us: you know, this is not our property, this is the property of this headman,” he noted.

Lavrov called it unacceptable. In his opinion, “the Czech colleagues will have to explain very seriously at the upcoming consultations” regarding “how they are going to correct this situation”.

The Foreign Minister stressed that "the obligation has not gone anywhere, and the monument must be restored."

On April 3, a monument to Marshal Konev was dismantled in Prague by order of the authorities in the Praha-6 district. The Russian Foreign Ministry has promised that this action will not go unanswered. On April 10, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a case in connection with the demolition of the monument.

Czech President Milos Zeman said the demolition of the monument was the stupidity of municipal politicians.
