Even if they display good morale after five days of deconfinement, the French still fear the consequences of the coronavirus crisis, according to a BVA poll for Europe 1 and Orange.

EXCLUSIVE

A country unconfined, but not reassured: this is what suggests the last wave of the BVA * survey for Europe 1 and Orange on the morale of the French during the coronavirus crisis. According to this survey, published Friday evening, more than four in ten French people still believe that "the worst is ahead of us" (41%), while they were "only" 38% at the start of deconfinement, Monday. Only 15% of French people think that "the worst is behind us", three months after the first death in France.

This pessimism is also reflected in the widely shared anticipation of an upcoming reconfiguration: 75% of respondents certainly fear (22%) or probably (53%) a new containment to limit the spread of the epidemic within French society . They are only 2% to be certain that there will be no reconfinement in the face of a possible second wave.

Distrust of the media and public authorities

Pessimistic, and even worried? More than three-quarters of French people (77%) are still afraid that they or a member of their family will catch the coronavirus, a proportion that does not weaken over the days and new surveys.

This concern is perhaps reflected in the proportion of respondents who trust information from the media (34%, -1 point compared to Thursday) and the public authorities (36%). In other words, around two thirds of French people are suspicious of the information they find online, on the radio or on television.

CORONAVIRUS ESSENTIALS

> Coronavirus: the French Academy has decided, it will now be necessary to say “the” Covid-19

> Coronavirus: is the second wave inevitable?

> Gatherings, trips, sport: what remains prohibited despite the deconfinement

> Deconfinement: what you need to know about returning to work

> Deconfinement: what hygiene for self-service bikes, scooters and scooters?

But this survey also shows a fairly good morale within the population: it remains in any case better than during the entire period of confinement, with an average score of 6.5 / 10 to reflect their state of mind, 0 being synonymous of complete depression, 10 of total happiness. This can be explained in particular by the fact that 80% of those surveyed lived through this first week of deconfinement (+1 point compared to Thursday).

* Continuous barometric survey carried out by Internet, between May 13 and 15, with a representative sample of 1,000 French people aged 18 and over, according to the quota method and the roll-up principle.
