In the past three nights, the temperatures during the nights have been in some places closer to minus three degrees. As a result, the apple growers in northeastern Skåne have suffered a lot of frost damage in their flowers.

- I've been working with apples for 20 years. I have never been aware that it has frozen in the middle of flowering. So this is very unusual for our latitudes, says Henrik Stridh, CEO of Äppelriket.

Elsewhere in Europe, apple growers are used to being cooler during the nights in the middle of flowering.

- For example, in northern Italy, where they have prepared to have measures to deal with it. But we don't have that here, says Henrik Stridh.

Too early to draw conclusions

- It is difficult to say now what this means for the apple harvest, but it is absolutely so that there will be no apples on the flowers that are frozen. Then it is difficult to judge how much it is that is frozen, says Henrik Stridh.

In the area that SVT Nyheter Skåne visits, it will, according to Henrik, be a "very small harvest". The apple kingdom also has apple orchards in Österlen and in western Skåne.

- There is also damage there, but it is not to the same extent as it is here, says Henrik Stridh.
