May 15, 2020 6.4 earthquake in Nevada today. The powerful shock, recorded by the US Geological Survey, had its epicenter near the California border and was felt as far as San Francisco and Salt Lake Cty, Utah. Subsequent aftershocks have been reported.

The shock was recorded at 4.03 am (13.03 in Italy) about 60 kilometers from the small and former mining town of Tonopah, which is located about halfway between Las Vegas and Reno, a semi-desert area. There was no immediate news of injuries or damage, but the shock - it was reported by the inhabitants on social networks - was felt all the way to California.

The Los Angeles Times reports that an average of five earthquakes of magnitude between 6 and 7 degrees affect California and Nevada each year.
