Wang Xiaowan, deputy to the National People's Congress and director of the Beibei Waterway Station of the Jialingjiang Waterway Management Office in Chongqing, works and lives on board half of the time each year. After becoming a representative of the National People's Congress, he still did not disembark. He still maintained the beacons and monitored the waterway with his colleagues, issued early warnings for passing ships, and guarded the tranquility of the 68 km waterway in the jurisdiction.
Wang Xiaowan is going to recommend at this year's National People's Congress meeting that the Three Gorges Dam will properly advance and extend the 175-meter water storage time. Through engineering improvement, the channel level of the Three Gorges Reservoir Backwater Fluctuation Zone will be upgraded to achieve linkage between main and tributaries.
Wang Xiaowan also proposed to promote the construction of the Jialing River Channel, a tributary of the Yangtze River, to improve the navigation capacity of the Jialing River Channel.
