Hear the site manager about why they cleaned up before SVT's visit in the clip above.

Holger Andersson is the site manager at the accommodation Höglunda in Gräfsnäs where Alingsås municipality places homeless people. Several people SVT has been in contact with describe the accommodation as "pure misery".

When SVT visits the site unannounced, we are met by large amounts of debris, excavated water pipes and a leaking basement roof. On two occasions last year, the Municipality of Alingsås had to put water tanks there, as the residents lacked running water.

But according to Holger Andersson, the criticism of housing is largely unjustified. Sure it has been excavated, but you have always kept the parts of the property used as accommodation clean and tidy.

- It has been messy around the house. But I hope that we have been corrected now, ”says Holger Andersson.

Cleaned up for SVT's visit

However, the measures Holger Andersson talks about were taken only days before SVT's booked interview. When we arrive at the place we are greeted by a completely different picture than the one that met us the weeks before, when we were there without the owners' knowledge.

When asked if the accommodation has been cleaned prior to our visit, the answer is yes.

- I can't deny that, says Holger Andersson.

So you cleaned up for us to come here?

- That's a big reason, of course.

It has been open here for the weakest people in society, but you do not clean until we come here. What do you think it looks like?

- It might not be so good. But the accommodation has been cleaned anyway.

Member of the Environmental Protection Committee

Holger Andersson is, besides the site manager at Höglunda, also a substitute in the municipal council and a member of the environmental protection board in Alingsås municipality.

Can people trust that you take your role in the Environmental Protection Board seriously when you see how it has looked at Höglunda lately?

- I hope so, he says.
