“The 12th IL-76 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces arrived at the Chkalovsky airfield with military personnel and special military equipment from the combined detachment of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which performed tasks to assist in the fight against coronavirus infection in the Italian Republic,” RIA Novosti quotes the statement.
Earlier, Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini over the phone thanked his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu for helping Russia to combat the spread of coronavirus.
On May 6, Shoigu announced the start of the withdrawal from Italy of the Russian units of radiation, chemical and biological protection.
