He will now be defended by Nabila Asmane, who specializes in discrimination in particular, and Ouadie Elhamamouchi, lawyer for the Collective against Islamophobia in France.

Three months after being indicted on two new rape charges, Tariq Ramadan is reorganizing his defense. According to the information collected by Europe 1, the Islamologist, hitherto defended by the lawyer Emmanuel Marsigny, changes his advice and will now be represented by Me Nabila Asmane, specialized in particular in discrimination, and Me Ouadie Elhamamouchi, lawyer for the Collective against Islamophobia in France (CCIF).

Prosecuted for two rapes since 2018, Tariq Ramadan first denied as a whole then pleaded "consented relations". Released on November 16, 2018, after almost 10 months of pretrial detention, the Islamologist handed over his Swiss and British passports and is prohibited from leaving France. Last March, he was charged with two new alleged rapes, facts first reported by women who were heard as witnesses. 

Tariq Ramadan is also referred to the criminal court for having revealed the identity of one of the first complainants of the file in his book  Devoir de truth , published in September 2019. He is also accused of defamation by Henda Ayari, the first woman to have lodged a complaint against him.
