A Palestinian boy was killed and four others were wounded by the Israeli occupation army’s bullets during clashes that took place in Hebron Governorate today, Wednesday, as US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in the area to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said - in a statement - that "the child Zaid Fadl Qaysia (15 years old) was killed by a live bullet in the head, which was fired by the Israeli soldiers in Al-Fawar camp in the Hebron Governorate (south of the West Bank)."

The ministry added that four other young men were wounded by live bullets, one in the abdomen and the other in the chest, and the other two in the lower limbs, and they were transferred for treatment in Palestinian hospitals.

The Al-Jazeera correspondent quoted eyewitnesses as saying that Israeli special forces had fired heavy gunfire at Palestinian youth after they discovered them while trying to storm the camp.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Israel for a lightning visit. His plane landed at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, on his first trip abroad in two months, in light of the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

The visit includes meetings of Pompeo with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mossad chief Yossi Cohen, as well as Benny Gantz and Gabi Ashkenazi, the ministers of defense and foreign affairs in the Israeli unity government, who is to be sworn in on Thursday.

Israeli and American sources said to the island that Pompeo will discuss with Israeli officials an Israeli plan to annex Palestinian lands according to the plan of US President Donald Trump, as well as discuss the reduction of Chinese investments in Israel, as well as the Iranian file.

In a "precautionary measure," Pompeo will refrain from meeting the US ambassador to Israel David Friedman because he suffers from "unusual respiratory symptoms," although tests showed he was not infected with the emerging coronavirus, according to the US embassy in Israel.

A week ago, the US ambassador to Israel spoke of the United States' readiness to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley region and West Bank settlements in the coming weeks.

For its part, the Palestinian leadership confirmed that it had informed the international parties - including the American and Israeli governments - that they would not stand idly by if Israel announced the annexation of any part of the Palestinian territories.
