The players of the Toulon Rugby Club have proposed in a "spontaneous", "collegial and unanimous" manner a drop in their salary with their president Bernard Lemaître, announced the Var club on Wednesday in a press release.

With this decision, they wish to demonstrate their "will to contribute to the collective effort aimed at preserving the economic health" of their club, affected by the cessation of competitions following the health crisis.

Indeed, without the income from matches (ticketing, partnerships), the RCT, like other Top 14 clubs, faces financial difficulties.

The owner and president of the Rouge et Noir club, Bernard Lemaître wanted to salute an "important decision" which "further strengthens our motivation and our desire to meet the challenges of tomorrow," he explained in the press release.

The businessman has even turned to the following. "With such a united team, we can, I am sure, build a solid future, filled with emotions and marked by successes," he concluded.

For example, the third Italian line Sergio Parisse (36) could extend another season, because he dreams of a final selection with the "Nazionale", as he said on the Planet Rugby site.
