A discussion about the foreign workforce in the forest industry and other green industries has blossomed during the corona pandemic.

For many years, several companies have used foreign labor. But right now, many of them cannot come to Sweden because of the entry ban that was issued during the corona pandemic and applies to countries outside the EU / EEA.

Lena-Liisa Tengblad, CEO of the employers' organization Green Employers, has been absolutely necessary to employ foreign labor.

- It has long been difficult to find labor in Sweden and the pandemic has not made it any easier.

But the GS union does not agree.

- I don't think the industry has done enough to attract these jobs. If you want to recruit, it might not be the best thing to say and say that the jobs are so tough that we can't handle them, says Håkan Engberg, ombudsman at the GS trade union department in Dalarna.

Are wages and conditions too poor and will there still be a lot of foreign labor in the forest?
