In Uppsala, operation Rimfrost has been going on for about a month, but in Malmö the effort has been rolling on since November last year. When the first four months of the year are summarized, the number of shootings remains at about the same levels as in recent years in the country.

In January-April this year, 99 shootings occurred and 15 people were killed, states Stefan Hector, national commander in chief of Operation Rimfrost.

During the same period last year, 81 shootings occurred and 15 people were murdered. In 2018, the figures were 76 shootings and 9 dead while in 2017 there were 99 shootings and 16 dead.

Criminals flush drugs into the scene

During the police press conference on the national operation Rimfrost on Wednesday, Stefan Sintéus, police chief in Malmö and regional commander in chief for Rimfrost in the South, said that during one of the efforts they have measured the wastewater at certain pumping stations in Malmö.

The result shows that when criminals find out in advance that the police are going to carry out an operation, a lot of drugs are flushed down the toilets.

- We can see that it is a way for us to limit the supply of drugs, says Stefan Sintéus.
