May 12, 2020 A day dedicated to the school to come, the one that after the health emergency will meet again in the classroom to face new challenges and old problems.

The Edu Day 2020, an event promoted by Microsoft and dedicated to the world of school and university, took place digitally to tell the world of education that has not stopped, even in a health emergency.

The live streaming was attended by Education Minister Lucia Azzolina, who thanked teachers, students and families for the commitment they have been carrying out in recent months, and underlined the funds allocated to be able to equip all pupils with adequate digital tools: "Distance teaching can never replace face-to-face teaching, but it has managed to reach our students even at a distance," said the minister.

The budget of Gaetano Manfredi, Minister of University and Research, was also positive, which invited the teachers to reflect on the teaching of the future and on the integration between the two ways of transmitting knowledge: the one in presence and the distance one. "Now the real challenge will be to imagine a university that is able to maintain its nature of being a large community that transmits and builds knowledge, and that knows how to exploit the potential of digital to be more inclusive," he added.

The day was an opportunity to analyze the response of the school world to this period of emergency, to share success stories and to discuss the challenges of the next restart, with the desire to seize new opportunities from this complex moment.

For Silvia Candiani, CEO of Microsoft Italy, "teachers and managers have made a heroic effort, but now we have to think about exploiting this acceleration to design the school of the future. We have announced a billion and a half investments to help Italy grow, but there can be no technology without skills, which is why the role of the school and university is fundamental ", commented Candiani.

Numerous partners contributed to the realization of the event, for a collective story on issues related to the world of education, technology but also research, culture and inclusion.
