Iraq announced the killing of five soldiers and three civilians and wounding others with ISIS attacks in separate areas of the country.

The Security Media Cell in Iraq said - in a statement - that two security personnel were killed and a third wounded in a shooting carried out by ISIS gunmen in the western Anbar province, explaining that the militants targeted a 16th infantry division guard post on the Chinese modern road in the governorate.

In a separate statement, the security media cell confirmed the killing of two members of the Popular Mobilization with the detonation of an explosive device in the Khanaqin district of Diyala Governorate, east of the country.

The same source indicated that a member of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and his wife were killed and his three-year-old daughter was injured in an attack by the Islamic State on a civilian bus in the Olayuh district of Khanaqin district, Diyala Governorate.

In the same governorate, the organization members kidnapped two farmers from their farm in the village of Makhais, and they burned their wheat and three agricultural tractors, and the bodies of the kidnapped people were found nearby, according to the same source.

Earlier today, a military source said that an artillery bombardment targeted an ISIS position in the city of Tuz Khurmato, east of Salah al-Din Governorate, killing 4 of them. The source added that unknown gunmen killed the dawn of the muezzin of "Al-Sabour" mosque in the same city.

The attacks of the Islamic State have increased during the past few months, especially in the region between the provinces of Kirkuk, Salahuddin and Diyala, known as the "Triangle of Death".

Iraq had declared in 2017 victory over the organization by reclaiming its entire territory, which was estimated at about a third of the country’s area and invaded in the summer of 2014, but the organization still maintains sleeper cells in large areas in Iraq, and launches attacks between different periods.

And the Iraqi Ministry of Defense revealed - in a statement last April - the killing of 170 civilians and military personnel, along with 135 of the organization, during confrontations and violence since last January.
