Gunmen have broken into a hospital in the Afghan capital , Kabul, on Tuesday , according to a government official and a doctor who fled the scene.
"Our special forces are in the area," said Marwa Amini , a spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry. A pediatrician who managed to escape from the hospital told Afp that he heard a loud explosion at the entrance to the building. "The hospital was full of patients and doctors. There was total panic inside," said the man, who declined to reveal his identity.
The medical center is located in western Kabul, where the 'Hazara' minority lives , often the target of attacks by militants of the Islamic State group. The organization Doctor Without Borders provides support in the maternity hospital.
