(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) French deaths approaching 27,000 cases surpassing Spain's frequent cluster infections

China News Agency, Paris, May 12 (Reporter Li Yang) On the 12th local time, the cumulative deaths of French new coronary pneumonia approached 27,000 cases, surpassing Spain. Cases of clustered infections in France have recently occurred frequently, causing concern.

The French Ministry of Health released the latest epidemic data on the evening of the 12th. In France, there were 348 new deaths. In the past two days, the number of single-day deaths in France has increased significantly, and the cumulative deaths have risen to 26,091, including 17,003 deaths in hospitals and 9,988 deaths in nursing homes.

France ’s deaths from new coronary pneumonia ranked fourth in the world, second only to the United States, the United Kingdom, and Italy, and surpassed Spain. The cumulative number of deaths in Spain was 26,920. There were 176 new deaths due to new coronary pneumonia on the 12th. There have been fewer than 200 new deaths on a single day for 4 consecutive days.

At present, the number of inpatients in France is 21,595, of which 2,542 are severe patients. The number of inpatients and severe patients continues to decline slowly. The outbreak in France ’s greater eastern region has eased. The French military stated that if the outbreak continues to be contained, the field hospital in Mulhouse will be dismantled at the end of this month, and some of its equipment will be transferred to Mayotte.

The French local health department reported a new cluster of infections on the 12th, which occurred in a hospital in the Côtes-d'Armor in Brittany. Since May 1, the hospital has confirmed that 46 people have been infected with the new coronavirus, and they have been treated in the hospital or quarantined at home.

The hospital's medical staff and patients underwent approximately 500 new coronavirus tests, of which 22 medical staff were diagnosed with infection, and the remaining infected were patients. The Brittany health department is taking action to prevent the virus from spreading further inside the hospital.

This is considered to be the fifth cluster infection recently in France. Aggregate infection cases have been found in the provinces of Dordogne and Vienne. Most of these areas with clustered infections are "green areas" in the official French epidemic map, which was previously considered by the health authorities to be of low risk. However, the continuous occurrence of clustered infections sounded the alarm.

After France launched the "unblocking" on the 11th, the phenomenon of people gathering and drinking and chatting began to increase. For this reason, the Paris Police Department issued a special "Prohibition Order", prohibiting people from gathering and drinking on both sides of the Paris River, and violators will be fined.
