According to preliminary judgment, both fires were related to the ventilator used in the hospital.

According to Russian media reports such as TASS and RIA Novosti, a fire broke out at the 50th Hospital in Moscow on the 9th, killing one person. On the 12th, a fire broke out at St. George's Hospital in St. Petersburg, killing 5 people. TASS quoted law enforcement sources as saying that the Moscow hospital fire was caused by oxygen burning due to a short circuit of the ventilator. On May 12, St. Petersburg Mayor Beglov said through a social networking site that the St. George Hospital fire was caused by a short circuit that caused the ventilator to catch fire.

The ventilators used in both hospitals were produced by the Russian Ural Instrument Factory. According to the news of the Leningrad State Government Information Office on the 12th, the state received a total of 10 ventilators produced by the plant on May 6. Due to the fire, these ventilators will be suspended.
