To the Express, Erik Salaneck, who is an infectious doctor at Uppsala Academic Hospital, says he thinks that he has failed to build a readiness for the new corona virus in both healthcare and elderly care - which has cost many elderly people:

- That's what I think is criminal. We had months to prepare, but the authorities took the trouble to say "this is quiet, this is not coming here". Instead of increasing readiness. I think it's a police case. It is so irresponsible - and it has led to death. It is a drop that I believe they are guilty of. Because it's so terribly simple things that needed to be done, Erik Salaneck told Expressen.

To SVT he says that the word choices are unfortunate and was stated "in effect" during a telephone interview with the newspaper a week ago, but that he is adamant about the criticism as such.

- We had time to prepare better than many countries. We did not realize the seriousness, he tells SVT Uppsala.
