The Saint-Martin canal, one of the popular places for Parisians during sunny days, was quickly taken by storm on Monday, on the first day of deconfinement. Faced with the crowds, the police evacuated the scene, and the prefect of police decided to ban the consumption of alcohol along the banks.

The images furiously recall the days before confinement. Monday, to "celebrate" the beginning of the deconfinement, many Parisians have taken over the Saint-Martin canal, one of the popular places in the capital during sunny days. Faced with crowds and non-compliance with the rules of social distancing by many people, the police evacuated the premises in the evening.

AFP video shows several police officers, one of whom has a megaphone, intending to leave the area. Another consequence: the consumption of alcohol along the banks was prohibited, as of Tuesday.

The prefecture now prohibits the consumption of alcohol on the banks

Quickly, the images made the tour of social networks, arousing many indignant reactions. Interior Minister Christophe Castaner asked the prefect of police a little later "to prohibit the consumption of alcohol along the Saint-Martin canal and the waterways on the banks."

A ban validated almost immediately by the police headquarters (PP). "In accordance with the request of the Minister of the Interior, the Prefect of Police decided to prohibit the consumption of alcohol on the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin and on the entire length of the routes on the banks in the capital from May 12, "said the PP in a statement.

The success of # deconfinement depends on everyone's prudence and civility.
