Khalifa University of Science and Technology revealed its work in cooperation with the concerned authorities to collect a local database to create a mathematical model "simulation model" in four steps to anticipate the behavior of the emerging corona virus, including improving models with the emergence of new information about the virus, and increasing confidence in information as knowledge grows Clinical epidemiology, applying models for each region or emirate in the country, in addition to working with health institutions in Abu Dhabi. In detail, the university yesterday organized an online lecture on data science and mathematical modeling to help policy makers and scientists understand the virus, delivered by the head of the department of epidemiology and associate professor of genetics and epidemiology at the university's medical school, Dr. Juan Acuna. Acuna stressed that the seriousness of the virus lies in the speed of its spread among people in societies, which has led to the deaths of thousands around the world. He attributed the main cause of deaths in the world to the weakness of health systems and not to the seriousness of the virus, expecting that "Corona" will continue on a seasonal basis, indicating that the number of infected people if they increase with critical symptoms will require the provision of intensive medical care in hospitals, which leads to a high rate of need for artificial respiratory devices And intensive care units. He pointed out that "mathematical models are models to represent reality to help us reverse the conditions that are expected to happen or anticipate things that could happen in the future."

He pointed out that the models help in understanding the causes of disease outbreaks, predicting the time cycle of disease outbreaks, anticipating crisis resources, and understanding the impact of interventions, in addition to defining the data to be collected.

Acuna stressed, "There are diseases that are more prevalent than (Corona), but its spread can be stopped due to our knowledge of it, unlike (Corona), and we still do not know much about it, so we are still unable to deal with it or stop or prevent its spread." Noting that the UAE is one of the safest countries Corona virus now.
