As French schools gradually reopen their doors from Tuesday, many parents are concerned that their children may be infected there. "There are more risks in staying at home than going to school," replied the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, guest of Europe 1 on Monday morning.

After two months of shutdown, French primary schools and colleges located in the "green" zone will gradually reopen their doors from Tuesday. In recent days, many parents have expressed concern that their children are already going back to school. "Many pediatricians say it, there is more risk in staying at home than going to school," replied the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, guest of Europe 1 Monday morning.

"Zero risk does not exist"

"Obviously we have to be careful, that is why we have implemented strict health protocols", underlines the Minister of National Education, adding that "zero risk does not exist", neither at school nor in the street, or at home. Jean-Michel Blanquer recalled that in the hundreds of schools that remained open to accommodate 30,000 children of caregivers, "no problem has been noted". "If there are, they will be treated on a case-by-case basis. But I think it will remain a minority," said the minister.
